I’ve been living in the US since 2010, and from the very beginning, I’ve had one big question: what do Americans do after eating dinner at 5pm?

I’m Italian, and back home, 5pm is “merenda” time – a little snack with tea or something sweet, for kids and adults alike.

So I want to ask directly: for those of you who eat early…what happens next? 😃

  • A) I’m done for the day, no more food
  • B) I have a snack later
  • C) I eat a second (lighter) dinner
  • D) It depends on the day
  • E) Something else

I know this isn’t true for everyone, but I’m genuinely curious – help me understand!

👉 Which one applies to you? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I generally eat dinner between 5 and 6 PM when I’m home. At restaurants it’s between 6 and 8 PM, depending on who I’m with. After eating dinner at home, I immediately go to sleep. Just kidding. I usually don’t eat anything else after dinner. I relax and read or watch TV or work on my laptop.
